Safety & Effectiveness
Safety Concerns for Traditional Heat Therapy Products
Heat therapy is a widely used treatment for chronic pain, repetitive motion injuries, joint and muscle aches. However, many traditional heat therapy products can actually do more harm than good.
- Electric heating pads often reach dangerously high temperatures to work effectively, and can quickly get too hot creating a burn risk.
- Gel packs are meant to provide cold therapy only and can explode, leak and cause burns if microwaved.
- Grain and powder bead packs do not consistently deliver moist heat and can develop dangerous hot spots. Also, they dry out and produce offensive odors. Since they cannot be washed, bacteria and fungi growth can occur.
- While convenient, disposable patches provide only dry heat and can take up to two hours to heat up to a therapeutic temperature. They then provide a longer than recommended treatment time, and some can cause burns in the process. They don't provide a secure fit and are difficult to reposition if needed. Plus, since they are not reusable, this option can become very costly for chronic pain sufferers.
Effectiveness of ThermalOn Moist Heat Therapy
ThermalOn Microwave Activated Moist Heat Wraps, Pads, and Sleeves can effectively reduce inflammation and/or increase circulation for temporary relief from pain associated with arthritis, muscle aches, TMJ, overexertion, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, repetitive motion injury and more.
The extreme effectiveness of ThermalOn heat therapy products can be attributed to:
- Ideal treatment time: 30 minutes is the recommended treatment time for heat therapy because it allows blood to flood the area. However, if treatment is prolonged, the body will assume the new, higher temperature is normal and will remove blood from the area.
- The most effective temperature range: A skin temperature between 104 – 113 degrees Fahrenheit provides maximum therapeutic benefit. ThermalOn products elevate skin temperature quickly and keep it there for the recommended time. (chart available that might help)
- Targeted treatment. Various sizes of pads and wraps are available for different parts of the anatomy.
- Enhanced therapy options: When used with ThermalOn's Heat Activated Pain Relief Spray, heat therapy has been clinically proven to provide even greater relief.
- No adverse effects. ThermalOn will not interfere with prescription or OTC drugs.
If you're still not convinced of the superior natural pain relief properties of ThermalOn, we encourage you try one of our heat therapy products. Relief awaits!
*Warnings: Heated ThermalOn products should not be applied over areas being treated with topical analgesics or patches that contain prescription drugs, menthol, camphor, capsaicin or other counter irritants. Maximum therapy treatment time is thirty minutes. A two hour waiting period is recommended between applications for the most effective therapy. Apply moist heat for cramping. Apply cold for the first 48 hours following an injury then apply moist heat until healed. For chronic pain either moist heat or cold therapy treatments can be effective. Persons with diabetes or circulatory conditions should exercise special care to insure safe temperature levels before applying. Small children should not use without adult supervision. Pregnant women should check with their doctor to see if moist heat therapy is appropriate for them.
